Summer is now fully underway, and I miss the cooler days when I could wear things like this overcoat above -- I spotted it in Zara a little while back and even though it wasn't on sale, I just knew I had to have it. Everyone has pieces like that, and even us bargain shoppers know when to strike when the iron is hot. I love everything khaki/army green colored, and the oversized fit sold it for me as well - I knew I could wear it well into fall with a myriad of different things. Dresses, turtlenecks, and everything in between would pair well with this jacket. Of course, to me the selling feature has got to be the back - that patching and stitching of the "THERE ARE NO RULES" phrase is a strong touch to any look. It's bold, it's got attitude, and it feels rough around the edges. I couldn't leave it on the rack! I added some little pins here and there to give it a flavor of its own.

The rest of this outfit was relatively easy to come up with - I've had this bright orange blouse from H&M for a while, and I liked its contrast to the jacket. I paired it with my trusty super ripped black skinny jeans, and then a fresh pair of Stan Smiths to tie in some green and also brighten it up. The pink beanie was another light touch that went with the casual, street vibe. I've been carrying around backpacks these days because it's easiest for me, since I'm always on the go, and this one is one of my favorites. A lot of chunky silver jewelry was the last piece to bring it all together, and that's how I ended up with this look! Unfortunately it's a bit too hot to take this into the rest of summer, but I've been stocking up on some dresses (gasp, I know) and I'll be back with some really breezy looks to carry us through to fall!

What statement pieces are you rocking for the rest of summer? Let me know in the comments below, and I'll see you in my next post! Thanks for stopping by.
