BLACKOUT

SLEEVELESS JACKET/VEST - TOPSHOP
SWEATER - TOPSHOP
JEANS - URBAN OUTFITTERS
SHOES - JEFFREY CAMPBELL
BAG - VINCE CAMUTO

You knew this post was coming... finally, an outfit dedicated to my one true love, all black. I wear this color most often than not, as most bloggers say, but I really do mean it. In fact, I don't even think black gets enough credit. Beyond its various implications (emo, goth, in mourning, whatever), black is truly simple and clean. It slims anyone down and lends an air of effortless cool. Whenever I can't make an outfit work or I'm out of time, I just reach for an all black ensemble and I feel comfortable and ready to face whatever the day has to throw at me.

Please forgive my scowling expression, this post was shot on a whim after I had come home from a 24 hour shift at work... Worked all night and then stayed into the day for what felt like the longest shift of my entire life. I was so tired I was delirious, which is partially the reason for my squinty eyes. Let's hope I look a little more rested in the next one! On to the outfit: I decided to pair all my current favorite pieces together for this look. The first thing is this black sleeveless jacket from Topshop, which I first purchased in a cream color that I wore in THIS blog post a little while back. I loved it so much in the cream that I cried aloud in joy when it arrived at the store in black. I cannot say enough about these vests, guys. They are multi-purpose, can get thrown over anything, and instantly make anything you wear look sophisticated. I see they're sold out online still, but I managed to link them anyway in case you wanted to call around different Topshops with the item code. Try and hunt them down, they are SO worth it!

Underneath I've got this really cute knit sweater which has a bit of a turtleneck to it - it sits cropped as well, and does a great job of keeping me warm. I wore my favorite black ripped skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters, as well as these cut out boots, and voila! Instant mysterious all black getup. What I love about this particular look is that it's super easy and cheap to replicate - in fact, you probably have similar items in your closet right now! All of the pieces can also be re-worn with different colors and mixed and matched, so they serve more than one purpose. I'm notorious for going a little cray-cray in sales, but lately I've been working on my self-control and training myself to see the value in fewer, quality made pieces that will be staples for me.

I linked as much as I could, if they are not exact matches then they're the product but in a different color.

Let me know what you think of the look below, I love reading your comments! They make my day. Until the next one, lovelies.
