Happy New Year, all! It's officially my first post of 2015, which is so weird. You all know we'll be writing 2014 until about June, maybe even longer for some of us... If you made any resolutions, let me know! I try to stay away from those, because the more I make the more disappointed I am come January 2nd after I've already given up on several. Instead, I just want to channel my energy into hard work and discipline, and devote my free time to improving my skills and also having adventures and fun. I really want to try and find a maintainable balance between a social life and "me time." Let me know if you're also challenging yourself, and give me some tips if you have any! They would be much appreciated.

Onto the first outfit of the new year... on a particularly gloomy and grey day, I decided that I would put the spotlight on this gorgeous waistcoat/vest/sleeveless jacket. If you can't tell, I'm really getting into these and I hope to purchase every single one manufactured by Topshop. Unlike the previous vest from my post HERE, this one is made of a lighter jersey material. The zippered pockets give it a little edge, and I love the color combination - who doesn't enjoy a little grey and black? I can see this piece also lasting for years in my wardrobe. Its versatility is what makes it so amazing; you would be able to throw this over a dress, or a turtleneck and a skirt. I see this piece coming into play for me next fall, that's for sure! I think it just lends my outfit a sort of polished look without too much effort. I can't tell you how much I recommend this! I suggest you invest in one and see how it changes your preexisting closet.

Underneath I just kept it simple in all black - the drapey shirt is one of my most well-loved items, and I paired it with my trusty Joni jeans in black. I think that besides the vest, the real star of the show here is on my feet. You guys, these SHOES! Like I mentioned in my above post, I'm really trying to get into the androgynous dressing and incorporate some more menswear inspired pieces in my looks, and these shoes are definitely a pair for that. The pony hair texture is so unique that I ran to purchase them as soon as I tried them on. My bag is from Vince Camuto, a brand I love, and I'm excited to explore more of their items in the future - it's so structured yet roomy enough for all my things. If you're anything like me, you carry about two-thirds of your life with you wherever you go. The leather is so buttery and I love the detailing too! I know I'll be using it for the rest of the winter (and probably until I stop being lazy and change to a new bag, which will then be used for months on end, and the thus the cycle will continue). Apologies for the portrait at the end, I thought it would be nice to mix the shots up but I ended up with a clear case of ceiling eyes. Ah well.

Have you been shopping the January sales? I've been snagging a few goodies here and there (but mostly spending money on candles like the grandma I am), and I've got my eye on a few things as well... Let's hope they make an appearance on the blog soon! The temperatures are dropping into the triple negative digits or so it feels, and I am not looking forward to braving the cold but as they say... Anything in the name of fashion (I don't think anyone's actually ever said that). Until next time!
